Meet The Chef: Rafik Abohattab
Growing up in Egypt, Rafik Abohattab spent much of his time helping his mother and grandmother in the kitchen. He developed a fervent passion for cooking and pursued that interest with his first job— running a food cart in Cairo at just 17 years old. Fifteen years ago, he moved from Egypt to the U.S. with aspirations of living out the American Dream, working in several kitchens to hone his culinary skills. Formerly in St. Roch Market, Torshi has found a new home on Frenchman Street in New Orleans.
Torshi's loyal diners enjoy dishes familiar in Mediterranean cuisine but with a unique, distinctly Egyptian flavor.
